Docs,
It was my distinct honor today to be allowed to bestow the NAMC Distinguished
Service Cross to Doc George Carrasco. Doc Carrasco is a NAMC National Service
Officer, Past Texas State Commander and the organizer of the BAMC event last
January with the awarding of NAMC memberships to returning wounded Iraq War
Soldiers at BAMC.

We had a good turn out to include the Past National Commander Ron Sharp, who
presented the award,  National 3d Vice Commander Calvin Guthrie, National
Chaplain Robert Stone and State Chaplain Glenn Ogle
and members Bill Renehan , Ernie Handel and James Diddle

The event took place and was hosted by Belton (TX) VFW Post 4008.

2nd NAMC Texas Gathering on September 11,2005 in Belton, TX. (VFW POST 4008)
There was food, fellowship and a few war stories. Lots of friendship.

Doc's.

The Southwest Regional was a success. The high gas prices prevented many, but a great crew assembled in Belton today to  kick off this event.
We had MORE FOOD than you can believe. Wow. The Texas State Chapter and VFW Post 4008 went all out. We had NAMC members from Houston,
Fort Worth, San Antonio, Moffett, Killeen, Belton, Temple and Euless Texas with us.

Further, we had "official" representatives as follows:

TREA  National Vice President Lonnie Vessel; VFW Post 4008 Commander Eddie Williams; AMRA State President Ernie Handel, TREA Chapter 88 President Joe Cruz. In addition Richard Claywell, new member, National Officer of the 236th Med Evac Association.  National QM Bunner sent to me the "special key tags" representing most major American conflicts. These were presented by me, State Commander Guthrie with assistance from National TREA Vice President Lonnie Vessel and VFW Post 4008 Commander Eddie Williams in al reverent ceremony  which included the playing of s special tape by Doc Holiday..  State President Calvin Guthrie organized most of the event and is responsible for all the great Food. The host VFW's Commander Williams truly opened up the post to all.  State Commander Guthrie presented special award to those that assisted us in the food and organization. Further, he presented the National Commander Ron Sharp with the Distinguished Service Cross and the NAMC Star of Service to  Doc James Nelson.  The National Commander, in turn presented  the NAMC National Cross of Honor to Doc Guthrie .Raffle: raised $103.00 for General fund.. Will send out Monday. Plus we donated $45.00 to the Youth Fund of VFW Post 4008.  I firmly recommend these type events.  I recommend planning ahead and "lots" of help. I further recommend that you get with a vet group such as VFW or Legion to host the event.
